望安以盛產文石著稱，其中將軍嶼更是澎湖良質文石的重要產地，大多產於多孔狀玄武岩層中。這種文石主要是由碳酸鹽礦物及蛋白石、褐鐵礦等所組成，以具有同心圓花紋或稱為「眼」，經琢磨加工成各種裝飾品，價值較高。
Fanchuan Island was named because it looked like a sailing ship from a distance, through the people of Jiangjyun Village call it Jiangmen Island. At low tide it is connected to the Jiangjyun Island and in the old days it was used as a navigational landmark by nearby shipping.
Wang-an is renowned for producing Aragonite and Jiangjyun Island is particularly famed for its high quality. The Aragonite is found in porous basalt layers and is mainly made up of carbonate minerals, opal and limonite. Those with concentric patterns – also known as "Eye" – fetch a higher price after polishing.
望安將軍村東北角，有一高約十餘層樓巨岩，近看不覺其高，愈遠則愈覺高大，狀似帆船，故名帆船嶼，相傳，曾有兩姐妹攀登帆船嶼頂，其中之一人下不來，也一直沒有下來，從此，便沒有人敢在上去了。
與將軍嶼間，2009年完成一條觀光大道，是為發展觀光事業的初步成果。
