澎湖開拓館的前身是日治時期澎湖廳長官舍,也是臺灣光復後澎湖縣長公館,日治昭和十年(1935年3月10日)竣工落成,與澎湖縣政府同屬典型「洋和混合」之日本式建築,結構堅實、設計典雅、庭園幽靜,民國八十一年以後,因房舍老舊閒置不用,民國八十八年縣府依原始建築風格修復,規劃改為「澎湖開拓館」,成為認識澎湖的第一站,也是澎湖人文、休憩、觀光的文化場域。
館內展示開拓澎湖史料文物,依序從歷史-開拓序曲、移民路迢迢、勇闖黑水溝、聚落開拓、戰爭-烽火澎湖、政經文教發展、建設現況以及閱讀澎湖等展區,娓娓道儘先民開拓的艱辛歷程。 全館占地面積2001平方公尺(約605坪),室內面積320平方公尺(約97坪),戶外庭園有百年榕樹、高聳的大葉欖仁,庭園裏澎湖特有植物眾多,提供優質的休憩空間。
Penghu Reclamation Hall is the former residence of the Penghu hall manager during the Japanese colonial era and the residence of the head of Penghu county after the Taiwan restoration. It was completed in Showa 10 (10 March 1935) of the Japanese colonial era and is a typical Japanese style architecture imitating “a combination of Japanese & western styles”, the same as that of the Penghu county government. The building has a strong structure, an elegant design and a tranquil garden. After 1992, the structure had been abandoned due to its dereliction. The county government then had it renovated in accordance with its original architectural style in 1999 and it was re-developed into the “Penghu Reclamation Hall”. It has become the first stop to get to know Penghu, as well as the cultural establishment for the culture, recreation and tourism of Penghu
The hall exhibits the historical materials and the cultural relics about the development of Penghu in chronological order by a number of exhibition zones, starting from the history – the prologue to development, process of immigration, passing the black water ditch, developing groups of inhabitants, war – flames of battle raging Penghu, political, economic, cultural and educational developments, the current condition of development to reading Penghu, thus giving a detailed account of the difficulties experienced by predecessors during the process of development. The entire hall measures 2001 square meters (about 605 level grounds) with the indoor area measuring 320 square meters (about 97 level grounds). There are 100-year-old banyan trees and tall Terminalia catappa L. in the outdoor courtyard, as well as numerous special plants exclusive in Penghu, thus offering an excellent space for relaxation
●Opening hours: Tuesdays to Sundays April to October 10:00 ~ 22:00 November to March 10:00 ~ 17:00.
●In order to maintain the quality of visits, the number of people entering the hall is limited to 40. If the number of people exceeds 40, please wait in the courtyard.
●Please turn off your mobile phone or set your mobile phone to vibration mode for the time being to avoid disturbing other visitors.
●Photo-taking, photographing, smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the hall.

●每次導覽時間約30~50分鐘,同一時間內以不超過兩組為限,同時段有兩個單位以上預約時,以先預約者優先,其他預約者請另行安排時間。
